Another Attack on Titan season premiere, another crash for Funimation and Crunchyroll streaming services. Both websites went down mere minutes after the premiere at 12:45 pm PST. French Wakanim, which is also streaming the anime, is still up.

UPDATE: Funimation is up and running. Crunchyroll tweeted and acknowledged the issue, nearly an hour after the initial crash but the website is still down/having login issues:

This isn’t the first time that a similar situation has happened, as Attack on Titan fandom is one of the biggest and most active on social media. While the first part of Attack on Titan’s final season was airing, Wakanim took a lax approach and posted memes about their servers after episode drops:
They later posted again, claiming they upgraded their servers. This year, they prepared for a potential fallout by telling their users they are explicitly allowed to watch the episode on the French Crunchyroll website (which is sadly a part of the main website and also down):
The anime premiered at 24:05 JST (6 and a half hours before the English broadcast) in Japan. Opening and ending themes have been released in creditless versions after the broadcast, and the season is listed with 12 episodes. Funimation describes the plot of the Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 2 as:
